Commenting rules

April 17th, 2009

First, thank you for all who visit this blog.  It continues to grow in popularity and I am sincerely appreciative.  But….

I’m not sure whether its because my site got updated to a page rank of 3 in April or just the general increased traffic but I’m getting a lot more comments that don’t follow my simple rule of no keywords in the name field.  The rule is posted directly in the comment form so people shouldn’t claim ignorance. Many sites do not mind this but I just can’t stand having to respond to people’s comments as “iphone” or “colon health”.

Starting today if people post keywords instead of a name it’s getting marked as spam.  For those who don’t realize the importance of this, I use Akismet and most other dofollow sites do too.  If you get marked as spam a couple times by Akismet you are effectively blocked from posting comments on all Akismet sites.  Trust me you don’t want that.

Please understand I appreciate the valuable comments and am more than willing to give dofollow backlinks but

DoFollow Search Engine Reviews

March 30th, 2009

Today I reviewed 4 popular DoFollow Search Engines:

  1. http://w3ec.com/dofollow/
  2. http://www.inlineseo.com/dofollowdiver/
  3. http://atniz.com/dofollow-search-engine/
  4. http://dofollowsearchengine.com/

I used 5 test searches:

  1. Vacation
  2. DoFollow
  3. Real Estate
  4. Iphone
  5. Web History

I then checked the top 10 unique websites that were returned by each search engine.

The results may surprise people who actually use the free search sites. Three popular free search engines on average only returned 55% dofollow sites.

However I’m happy to report that this Search Engine returned 90% DoFollow. It’s important to note that the site was last updated March 1st so my rule that 10% of dofollow sites change back to NoFollow still holds.

DoFollowSearchEngine.com’s next update is April 1st.

The New Search Tool – FAQs

March 11th, 2009

I’ve got alot of emails asking for more details of the up coming launch or of people just telling me the current search tool is great and how could I improve upon it.  Well I can and have!  I drafted a FAQs based on some of my emails this week.  I’ll add more as things pop up.  Please email me or just post in the comments!

Q. What is DoFollow?

A.  DoFollow is the absence of the NoFollow hyperlink attribute that tells Google to disregard the backlink in its search ranking algorithm.  That means NoFollow backlinks are virtually worthless.

Q. Why should I care about DoFollow?

A. High ranking relevant DoFollow backlinks are critical to improving your SEO.

Q. What new Search Tool are you talking about?

A. Well I’ve posted previously and my newsletter readers know all about it.  I’m retiring the current search engine and launching a new one on March 14th.  In fact, all of my newsletter readers are currently trying it for free this week and are locked in at a 50% discount for life.  Sign-up now and you can get a free sneak trial and 50% discount too!  Newsletter Sign-up.

Q. Why should I pay a monthly fee when there are dozens of free DoFollow Search Engines?

A. There are lots of reasons which are mentioned elsewhere but the biggest reason is my tool is maintained.  In my experience about 10% of my search engine is purged each month because it has either become nofollow or simply stopped approving comments.  I grew tired of the free tools being filled with NoFollow garbage.  It wastes time and time is money!  No matter what list or search engine you stumble across on the internet… it’s filled with garbage.  For example, I’m sure most everyone is familiar with the often referenced list (http://courtneytuttle.com/blogs-that-follow).  I reviewed this list in January and its was only 51% DoFollow!

Q. How do you maintain your search engine?

A.  I personally check each site every month to confirm that not only are the previous comments dofollow but that the site is still accepting new comments.  This takes several hours each month.  Trust me none of the free (or even some of the paid) sites do this.

Q. I found a site that is NoFollow on your Search Engine!  Your tool #@%!

A.  Okay now slow down.  It is possible that you may find a nofollow blog since about 10% of the sites switch historically.  I would of course greatly appreciate if you would report any issues but before you do please confirm that the site isn’t using the LuciaLink Luv plugin.  They may require between 2 and 10 comments before they all turn to dofollow.

Q. I liked the old free version.  What’s so special about this version?
A.

  1. Greater depth of search results are returned.  Google typically returns the sites at the domain level.  My tool will return individual web pages that are on your specified search term.
  2. This search engine is 2 times larger and only has sites with a PageRank of 2 and higher.  And of course the list is growing…
  3. No Google ads.
  4. Every site listed is reconfirmed each month.  NoFollow sites are aggressively weeded out.

Q. I love this product!  Can I promote it!

A. Not yet but I will be setting up an affiliate program.  Email me at admin (at) dofollowsearchengine.com if you are interested so you can be one of the first to promote this great tool.
